You MAY distribute this level through any electronic network (Internet, FIDO, local BBS etc.), provided you include this file, leave the archive intact, and do not charge a fee for access to this file. ============================================================================ "Take a trip back" by |2at-|3astard in UT'99 ============================================================================ What is a Stupid Map? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I've played a lot of maps and the ones that always seem to be the most fun for everyone are the small fast paced mega-death maps like wh00tabulous and face. While big maps can be nice to look at, its not much fun when you need a road map to find your way to the flag. So I created my first ultra small map called CTF-Stupid. The idea was that two enemy ships crash during a battle on a planet run by robots. The robots did their best to rebuild the two ships but all they could salvage was enough parts to make one ship. Two flag bases, a hallway, and two engines with the spawn chambers all mixed together. And the first thing the combatants think when they spawn into battle is... Who designed this Stupid ship!?! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= And so the Stupid Map Series was born. A stupid map is a one third size map with nothing standing in your way of the flag except the enemy. For an inside map you don't have to worry about finding a weapon, you pick up one as you spawn. For an outside map they're located nearby. For the most part you don't have to look around for ammo, you won't live long enough to run out! Ammo, health, and shields are mostly located near the flag base to help defenders. Defensive weapons, like titan guns and flak cannons, are also located near the flag base. Weapons of mass destruction are located in the center so both teams can anihilate each other. There are usually no more than 3 ways to get to the flag, all of them basically a straight line. There are few hiding places or good places to camp. This is meant to be a full on assault. Now just because they're fast paced maps doesn't mean there aren't strategies. Hiding in the side corridors til the flag is returned, defending your flag carrier by burning a path through the enemy with a titan gun, or using exploding bullets to clear out the area around the flag base. You'll figure it out, or die quickly! A Friendly Message to the Whiners -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Stupid maps are not for everyone. People who like to hop around with the flag for 30 minutes to impress everyone with their skills will not enjoy them. It's face your enemy and may the best man win. People who like to hide in the dark corners and snipe the whole time probably won't enjoy them. There aren't many places to hide. And if you like to base camp and spawn kill you probably won't enjoy them either. I keep the maps updated to make it hard for people camping and spawn killing. While they are the most chosen maps on the server there are always going to be complainers. Some People think they're too fast. If you like slow, go play on an Low Grav/Insta Gibe server. That's pretty dull. Some complain about the weapons, they don't like this weapon or that one, but the funniest thing about these people is they use the same weapons they supposedly hate to rack up more frags than anyone. And there are the people who just like to complain about any map that they suck at. If everyone else is doing great it ain't the map that sucks buddy! ;) And if you don't like the maps on this server remember one thing, there's a zillion other servers out there. You want us to play the same damn maps everyone else has? Why do you think you're here to begin with? It's for the variety. There's all kinds of maps and all kinds of weapons. You don't have to love them all, just don't bitch and whine like a baby about them. At least you know that my maps won't take a friggin half hour to finish. There are a lot of maps where half the people get bored and leave before the game is done. That should tell you something. When a stupid map is running its usually full house! So Enjoy!
